Tay tay Tiange: Why You Shouldn’t Go?

Last year around November everyone in the Youtube world is raving about Taytay Tiangge. All the outfits are awesome and a head turner that I wanted to personally get my hands on it.

So I am determined to visit Taytay Tiangge and finally give it a go. I am even with my mom and my nephew which turned out to be a disastrous idea.

Taytay Tiangge Schedule:

Monday 2PM → Tuesday 3PM

Wednesday 2PM → 12 Midnight

Thursday 2PM → Friday 3PM

                                                 Saturday 5AM → 3PM 

Don’t get me wrong, I love Taytay Tiangge it has its own perks but if you are going to Taytay Tiangge to find an Instagram worthy outfit you might want to consider cons first so that your overall experience in Taytay Tiangge will be all worth it, after all, the main reason we went there is to find a great outfit for a cheaper price.

Place

I live in Bulacan, so going to Taytay Tiangge will at least cost me 200-300 pesos depending on what mode of public transportation I use. You have to consider the distance and time you will spend on travelling as well because for sure a round trip will at least be 3 hours.

Fitting Rooms

Taytay Tiangge is basically an open space with tents, so not all stalls have the luxury to have a space for fitting. Also, Taytay Tiangge is basically catering for wholesale orders so fitting the items is not something they prioritize. So when buying your clothes in Taytay please expect you won’t be able to try them out if it fits you or not.

Quality

It is true that you can actually find a good outfit in Taytay Tiangge but the consequence of mass producing an item will have a minor setback on quality. You will find items that are not sewn straight or not cut properly. However, if you have a keen eye on determining well made textile for sure you will find one in Taytay tiangge, afterall we are talking about Filipino talents here.

Another dark side I see in Taytay Tiangge are overworked sewers. Hardworking sewers of Taytay Tiangge are being underpaid for their skills and talent. We all want value for our money but little did we know that this mentality can cause a huge disadvantage for the fashion industry in the Philippines. Why would you think that you can buy a t-shirt for 50 pesos? The textile must be cheap, that will be our initial guess, but other than that it is because the sewers are hired to make volumes of t-shirt for a small amount of price.

I am not saying that you should stop buying items from Taytay Tiangge but in contrast, we should patronise them, even more, to show our support to them. I just hope that the current system with regards to the sewers of Taytay Tiangge will immediately change for the better.

Where can I get Instagram worthy items for a cheap price?

My advice for getting fashionable clothes the same as Taytay Tiangge items? Get it from your local place, for all you know these items came from Taytay Tiangge too. The items might not be the cheapest, but the good side of it is that you don’t have to travel so far, that will mean money saved because you don’t have to use it for transportation. You will also have the luxury to fit the items because for sure Tiangge on Malls provides fitting rooms. And quality wise, you will get items that are hand-picked (quality checked) by resellers so you will get better quality items from them.
