Elimination Diet - the process that lead me to Healing

I just like to share my journey to healing my brain through food.

Keto

I started out keto, I was fascinated by yummy dessert and food that keto offers.

Hence, I tried it myself.

Broccoli, cabbage asparagus, arugula, lettuce kale and many more.

I have tried those vegetables because its no brainer, they are healthy and it provides nutrients to your body.

When I found about Keto, I was really looking into food that will optimise my brain function. Essentially I was looking for food that will make me focus more.


And I have received Keto with a wide smile on my face.

But then, I am wondering, I am still hungry with keto .

I am eating a moderate amount of meat and vegetables, but still I feel it wasn't enough. I feel like I am still starving. especially I have to decrease my rice intake, since I need to follow a low carb diet.

I bought the keto approved treats like peanut butter, I bought vitamin b12, cod liver oil supplements that keto recommends.

But it turned into a horror scene real quick.

I started to feel a lump on my right breast and I was thinking, is this because of the vitamins I am taking?

I suspected easily that I might bought a fake drugs via online shopping.

I was devastated because I invested on those because I think is healthy for Keto.

Its not that its Keto's fault, but I was sad that the diet I want to follow is not sustainable for me.

I also had problems with gas, possibly due to fiber intake.

And, still, my problem from the beginning still exists, I am rumbling about being hungry all the time and my mental clarity is not something that I feel long term (like all throughout the day).😞.

Keto did not Work for Me

Hence, I left Keto and just keep with me what I think is good to keep, just like staying low carb and intermittent fasting.

Fasting Mistake

Since I am aiming for healing, its a common knowledge to everyone that fasting means healing.

But I took it the wrong way. 

Sorry, this is what I get for self diagnosing and self treatment, but anyway I am happy to go through this journey in the end, so I have a lot of things to talk about 😆.

Going back to fasting. Remember that I stayed low carb diet and do fasting, these are my key takeaways from keto diet.

This, aggravated my symptoms of severe hunger.

Because I am just plain hungry.

I do not know what to eat.

I go back to my usual Filipino diet, where meat portions are less, because meat is expensive.

Also, chicken being the cheapest, it has hardly had enough nutrients to sustain my vitamin deficient body.

I remember that time, I just do whatever, trying back junk food, because I am simply hungry.

Then Carnivore 

Then I learned about carnivore.

I particularly like Dr Shawn Baker & Laura Spath.  They thought carnivore as sinple as it is without over sensationalizing the diet.

Like simple education. No fuzz, no selling anything suppliments ( you can tell here that I still dont get over the fake pills I bought online).

I particularly enjoyed being carnivore because its so simple, just eat meat.

That is it.

Although I later incorporate rice on my diet, with meat, they say, all the vitamins and minerals you ever needed is already present .🍖.

Well, I think the only commodity you have to buy is salt. That is it.

For me, that is so simple, I will no longer have to prepare side veggies on my plate just meat and rice ( since I added rice back).

Ultimate Elimination Diet

I also appreciate carnivore, because I came up to find that I am allergic to dairy.

While following Steak and Butter Gal, I discovered that I am allergic to dairy.

I already knew before that I have stomach aches when drinking dairy, but I kind of ignored it because I love dairy products.

I find it huge to know that I am allergic to dairy, because I see instant improvement with my depression, brain fog, adhd and all other mental disorders I feel that time.

Plus, being able to fill in the nutrients deficiency by eating beef (cant do chicken alone as I get sensitive with noise at night time), my day to day tasks gets easier.

No more drama at work. No need motivational quotes just to convince myself that I am not lazy. Carnivore thought me to be a normal working person.

I would say beef is the ultimate food that is suitable and works for me.

I did struggle with cooking beef though but nevertheless my brain is much clearer with this kind of diet. And I am not complaining.

Now I kinda understand Mikaela Peterson about eating just meat, it really does bring healing and its God sent.

To sum it up, I have tried keto, fasting and last thing that worked for me is carnivore diet or maybe I can say lion diet.

Because lion diet only eats beef and lamb.

Anyway  carnivore or lion diet is the simplest and the most effective diet I would say.

Although I eat it with rice, I predominantly favor beef and I have the best results that way.

Not to mention beef is sustainable for me here in the Philippines. ( If I have means I will do lamb).

With a little bit of chicken and eggs, I find that if my main course is still beef I do not lack the energy making me feel I am conplte with the nutrients I need.

Depression or Arte Lang? Depression Series

Arte lang ba ang depression.

This is a common comments you hear from elderly Filipino who is not aware of depression.

Pero sa totoo lang, when I knew that depression is an effect of vitamin deficiency and food allergies ( i am talking about my personal experience), I kinda feel like, looking back on my loneliness, anxious feeling before going to work, refusing to go to work at all - all these didn't make sense, and kinda of feel like a little bit maarte.

When I had an instant shift if perspective...

Yung dating bini blame ko yung boss ko, co workers, parents who make me feel that my life is miserable, like all the million reasons I thought of that it's someone else's fault suddenly, I dont feel that way anymore.

My heavy feet, heavy feeling when I am about to go to work, nawala yun lahat.

I feel light-hearted.

I do not have to reason out my mind, why I need to go to work. Its just like a common chore.

Like I just need to do it. Just go to the office and work, period.

No drama, no nothing.

That is why, when I finally knew what was happening to my body, to my brain, the elders comments kind of feel na "medyo tama nga".

Not to shame people who are depressed, but when you finally overcome your depression and the cure is a simple diet change,  light bulb will appear, and you will just laugh off the depressed state you are in before.

I have written down the diet I did to heal my depression and improve my mental clarity here ☺️.

Unmotivated to go to Work :Depression Series

I became motivated to do this depression series due to the inspiration I got from idling around in social media (ie. Sharers on FB pages work is life, peso sense etc)

Depression Signs

I would say that, one of the depression signs is the feeling of being unmotivated to go to work or do any work at all.

Getting up in the morning, thinking that you will have to interact with your co-workers or your lead is a devastating feeling inside.

Its a feeling that is hard to contain. 

Like your chest is tight and heavy.

Like it literally weighs your heart down.

Make you sad.

Well to put simply, depressed 😞.

Depression & Diet

When I finally felt better and stop being depressed through the right food choices, I instantly noticed the difference with my attitude.

I dont resist going to work anymore.

Like suddenly its not a burden anymore.

The heavy feeling I felt in the morning resisting to go to work is plain gone.

So, I really believe that depression signs is related to the food that you eat.

Weather it may be vitamin deficiency, food allergies or toxins present to ultra high processed modern food, it pays to go back to basic and discover the diet that is good for you.

In my case trying out the elimination diet - "carnivore" is a life saver for me 

At first, amping up my meat intake especially beef, gave me the energy and fills in the vitamin deficiency I am experiencing.

With my journey to carnivore I also identified that beef is a superior food for me. While eating chicken consecutively is not a good idea.

I also learned that I am allergic to dairy while I try carnivore.

Depressed no More 

I am really happy that I am able to get my brain back to work.

With the healing I get from the right food, I do not mind simple problems anymore.

The feeling of depression in the morning, its gone. Like all my worries about other people is non- existent.

And now , this may sound harsh, the things I worry about before, just sounds plain stupid.

Yes the heavy feeling in the morning is real, and that is because of a deeper issue hiding.

And who would have thought that the solution, in my case is not another motivational author or personality, but I am just simply vitamin deficient and eating the wrong food.

It's Their Fault : Depression Series

One of the fleeting signs of when I am depressed at least for my experience is when I always blame others.

Its unusually magnified that my boss, my family or colleague is wrong.

Its a normal thing that it's their fault.

Like even all the hardship I am going through is because its somebody's fault.

Work is Life follower

Like any other idle person, my pastime is social media.

And I particularly enjoyed looking at sharers in that group about their work dilemma.

And unsurprisingly, I saw many post that blames others about their mishaps.

And I am particularly moved and I totally understand what they are getting at.

I kinda convinced myself that those sharer's is going through some kind of depression.

Since I experienced the same thing.

Mild anxiety or depression or whatever it may be (not a diagnosis by any means but just generally describing depression).

It seems to me that many working Filipino are struggling to some kind of anxiety.

And am saddened that it feels like it is ever increasing in numbers.

My Increased Meat Diet

I feel like when I finally knew what my body is allergic to, through carnivore, I felt like I am ever free to feeling depressed and anxious.

While I add now rice to my diet and contiously eating volume of meat (especially beef) vs carbs intake, I feel that this diet for me is sustainable and working.

I feel like my anxiety and sleep is improving and I can function well in a corporate world.

Unlike before like when I have crazy thoughts and involuntary talking to myself. (My darkest days experiencing depression ☹️).

Anyway, I hope more people can able to learn that food is healing, just like what it did to me.

It doesn't mean everybody will be allergic to dairy like I do, but increasing meat especially beef for me, makes miracles. I dont know why, if I just eat chicken like days in a row, I dont feel crazy or anything but my mental focus is too sensitive. Like my brain wont switch off before sleeping and will constantly be startled with normal noice around the house.

Whereas if I eat beef, noice does not bother me. So I really believe to start with these meat first and gradually add other meat that you like.

This post should be about depression only but I cant help talk about how I cured it starting with elimination diet carnivore. 😆.

Anyway meat 🥩 - beef has the best effect to my brain, I do not know the science behind it but I will continue to consume it ♥️.

Gifts are Meant to be Trampled upon

I had an impression about giving gifts.

It's a bit on a negative side 😕, and that is, nobody really appreciate the gifts you give.

However you put in thought to your gift, it seems that you cannot always connect to the receiver.

Well that is just me, in my own experience I always give gifts according to what I think is the best. In "thoughts and in budget".

But however I put effort in my gift, I always feel it is underappreciated.

With all these sad aftermath of giving gifts, I seem to rationalize my predicament and just thought, that gifts should be trampled upon.

Like no matter how much effort you put into it, it would not be as special because other people gave it to you.

I kinda learn to accept that it is normal that people will not particularly love your gift as much 

But its ok. As long as your intention of giving gift is pure, that is enough.

It feels Like Saving and investing is not Enough

I think savings as much as you can and save it on the highest yielding bank or in my case MP2 is a good thing.

But I still have present problem.

I am always in a state of frugality.

Frugality is not a bad thing though..., but its kinda tiring sometimes that you have to be encapsulated in a budget.

Not that I wanted to spend money like crazy or aim to be a one day millionaire to fill my brain with worthless sense of pride, I think I just sometimes want to breathe.

Like even I can able to save 10k a month out of frugality, I still cannot pay off debt.

And try out part time work - which I wanted to explore last year.

And with the little budget I have, I can't seem to do it all at once.

So what I am trying to say here, is that, its good that you save and invest as Dave Ramsey's suggest, but, I feel really restricted with what I earn.

And it saddens me.

As much as I want to do a lot of things at once, sadly I cannot do it.

And its really really sad though.
Anyway, I think this would be fine for me for now.

Instead of running after a materialistic dream.

As long as my mind is not clouded with materialistic desires, I think that is good enough.

Protect Your Blessings

Protect your blessings.

A Prayer came True

Have you ever had an ultimate prayer you asked from the Lord and suddenly the Lord made a miracle and granted it to you.

I have those miracles or answered prayers, multiple times in my life.

But, on multiple occasions, those answered prayers became my worst nightmare.

One perfect example for this is working abroad.

When I had a chance to work abroad, it all get to my head.

Meaning, I have become prideful and confident on my own abilities.

And that is when it started to get ugly.

My dream became a nightmare. I neglected my health, ate a bunch of things I didn't know I am allergic to before, and ruined my memory. Hence at work, I failed badly.

Really bad.

Fast forward, to learning my lessons the hard way, now I realize that you have to protect your blessings.

Protect Your Blessings 

Yes, protect your blessings. 

In a work context, I made sure I am eating the right food for optimal brain function.

So I dont get forgetful.

I try to improve myself as well. I am not aiming on any promotions, but I would make my heart smile if I at least do a job well done.

I know it is a constant effort, but I think every blessing should be protected. 

You received a loveone, you have to work on it. Same with livelihood.

Anyway you are given, you have to be a good stewards of it.

Salt Bath Against Body Odor

This is an embarrassing topic for me because I always thought that I am the cleanest and fresh person ever.

But I do have problems about hygiene wherein I say to myself I do not need to take a bath because I smell great anyway.

But that backfired me because it created a bad habbit of skipping bath.

On rainy days it is prevalent to get an athlete's foot because of the dirty pavement plus rain will plash on to your socks and soak your foot for a long time due to long hours of commute. And that is when it started.., plus combining the laziness to bath at home, brings me the curse of body odor.

I kinda tried a lot of remedy like tawas, virgin coconut oil, kalamansi, and bathwater with apple cider vinegar, but I think the most effective is hot bath water with salt ( like a fist of salt).

Of course I still use the usual deodorant, I think brand does not matter.

Bath Salt

Adding salt to hot bath water and soaking your hand and feet has the most therapeutic feeling.

Not only it releaves muscles, it also removes itchiness and odor from my foot.

Since hot bath salt is easy to prepare, I think even when you do it every day it will not affect you negatively.

Also, if you feel like your underarm is starting to smell funky this is a great solution as well.

Not to mention my bumbs in my face significantly reduced.

Always Hungry

This is just a reminisce of my experience about how I am always feeling hungry.

Student days Meals
When I was still a student and when I was working.

Like, when I was still a student, even after I eat lunch, I feel like I am still hungry.

I thought at first its because we are poor and I don't have more money to buy more food.

But more than that, I think its the quantity of meat I eat in a meal.

Most meat I ate when I was young is pork and chicken.

And my lunchbox is packed with rice and a teeny tiny piece of meat.


Well, that is how it is in our household because we need to portion out  food to a number of people- my siblings.

And even if I have money to buy snacks, I kinda opt buying fishball or kikiam which has zero meat in it.

On most part, I have biscuits as snacks and a pack of fruitjuice. Again, as in , zero meat.

My Food at Work

When I finally start earning money, I did not earn a lot by the way, but I think I remember what my go to food is fast food like Jollibee and Greenwich- of course anything affordable 

Yes it has meat- chicken or beef burger, Lasagna, pizza but I dont have that much money to buy for two pieces of chicken or add an extra layer of patties and with Greenwich the ratio of meat vs pasta or pizza bread is really poor. 

What I mean is, even if I am eating fast food which is my dream food at that time, the ratio of meat vs carbs is still imbalance. Well I think its pretty obvious that affordable foods is always heavy on carbs.

Yes, I feel full for sometime, because my tummy would look like it will explode, but it did not last long.

I am still as hungry and craving for the next meal.

Experiencing Carnivore
When I tried strict carnivore, I appreciate the guidance I got from "ever realiable source Youtube 😆" that you have to eat till you are full.

And I did just that. i eat a lot of meat.

But you all know the story, I did not stay carnivore because my body did not able to adjust to eating just meat.

That is why I brought back rice. And I feel I am not allergic to rice in any way.

But one takeaway I got from carnivore is that my meat portions should be bigger than the rice.

And I learned that beef meat is more substantial vs chicken.

I stay full longer with beef rather than chicken.

Lesson

My overall takeaway now and what is currently working for me is more beef meat vs ricr 

Yes I can eat chicken but I need beef in a day at least ♥️

Sleep Update and my Brain

I have been really concious about my diet for the past 2 years (hope the estimate is close enough) - from keto then carnivore, then all beef with rice, cutting off dairy and all other tweaks I did with regards to my diet, I explored all these in able to improve my Mental Health.

Sleep
It would also be impossible not to include the topic of sleep, because sleep means healing.

If you have a good night sleep, it means that your body has the chance to heal itself.

And that is what I am all about. To heal my brain, my skin and all other benefits that comes with sleep.

Dairy

After experimenting about my diet, eliminating and adding foods back- due to cravings, I think I finally found out who is the culprit with my deteriorating health.

And that is dairy - btw that includes butter.

I love dairy even when I was young.

I drink milk even if I get upset stomach. Yogurt, Milk, cheese and butter, milk tea, custard donut... I crave and enjoy eating those food.

Anyway, I thought its only natural for an Asian to be lactose intolerant, but in my case, milk is a big factor why I cannot sleep and why I cannot think clearly.

It gradually ruined my brain.  It increased my brain fog and whack my concentration.

It's actually a miracle that I survived all this time. I mean, work wise.  Since brain is a mess, how is that I am able to work properly???

How I feel Now

With dairy out of sight, I think my life is a bit better.

I can able to have a good morning since I get enough sleep, I dont have a headache and I think I can able to hold a conversation now, with relates to work.

By continuing to be conscious, I hope I continue to heal. ♥️♥️♥️

Teens, Hair, Personal Hygiene

I lived in a household where in both of my parents are working.

Hence, family time is just Saturday and Sunday.

As the eldest girl in the family, I get to learn the usual household chores with little training and guidance.

In a Filipino family I guess you would call it "scolding" or "nagging". 😆

What is most memorable about is about my puberty.

Transitioning from a girl to teen is quite a Taboo topic in our family hence this is rarely discussed or talked about, and add to that is because I am extremely shy.


Period 
As I get my first period, instead of telling it to my mom, I just handle it myself.

But it started getting hard to handle it myself bow as a year passed and menstruations gradually increased up to 5 days.

Without any allowance, I struggle to get where I should get my money to buy pads for 5 days?.

Looking back, my first year is a gift, because I only got my period every two months.

What I do get by, by sewing a piece of fabric in my underwear, just like my teacher told us in home economics.

But since the succeeding year is more frequent and the flow is increasing as well, I cant keep up sewing fabric.

Hair

One more thing about puberty is hair in armpits and down there.

I do not know what to do?

I bought razors and pluck my armpits.

While down below is a bit of a struggle because i get blisters when I tried to shave.

Eventually, I resorted to scissors fir down there, though its really hard to maintain it, as I need to do it very often.

Growing Chest

This one is a struggle as well.

Since I come from a poor family, baby bra's are not a priority. Hence, I became really shy and insecure at school for not able to move freely.

Body Hygiene 

Lastly, I struggled with body odor when I was in preteens possibly because of the added hair and activities I do like running. (still a kid at heart though)

I did tried natural remedies like calamasi and tawas, but I feel its not doing it.

I also struggle with athletes food, because at times like rain, its innevitable that my socks get wet and be soaked.


Looking Back

Fast forward now that I am 35 I have listed down the simplest remedy I do now for these problems.

1. Period -The easiest way is to just buy pads. Change twice a day. If you have to cry out to your family just to get you two packages of napkin, then do it.

I use charmie now, its very cheap 8 pads for 22 pesos (if i knew this product before, I should have bought this eversince).

2. Hair- for underarm, I swear on investing a wax warmer and a tin of wax (i bought mine for 1k on Shoppee while the wax is around 800- although its pricey I have been using it almost 4 years now) and wax paper (prise os like 60 pesos to 99 pesos for 100 pcs, I bought from Lazada or Shoppee) .

Waxing method is the easiest ever, time efficient and overtime my hair is somewhat not growing very vigorously.

For down there, what I use now is a cheap rechargeable hair trimmer for babies (around 200 pesos in Lazada). I chose a baby trimmer because that is the cheapest option, instead of buying a trimmer that is specifically marketed for women.

I still use wax for hard to reach areas though. you can try wax of your pain tolerance is high ( you actually can achieve this by visiting a waxing salon and then just do it yourself when you feel you are confident enough to pull the wax paper yourself)

So both of these methods are quick and easy.

For cleanup, you need to invest on tissue you can pick up the hair on the floor afterwards.

3. For Chest- I would say just buy straight to the yoga section from Bench. I think its economical that way. For one, you can use it till your 18 and two, it gives support since kids always run around.

4. Body Hygiene - the cheapest I use now is Fun G tawas, and aside from that its important that if you notice body odor amd athlete's foot, get a hot water put a bunch of salt and soak yourself there.

Just do it for 3 consecutive days and for sure you will notice the difference.

That is it.

That's the tip I have learned so far being a girl.

Yes, some of it are expensive but they really go along way.

Part Time for Students

I am always on the look out for an easy work from home online part time job.

And I have friends introduced me to one, almost same from the ones I tried from Youtube. 

I visit an io website, then click some games, read some articles and refer some friends.

But guess what. 

I was never really paid from these sites ever, sadly. ☹️

Allergic to the Word "Hard Work" but wanted to be Rich

I have always been lazy.

This is hard to admit but I really am.

That is why I really hate listening to self help books, wanting to be inspired and then they tell you that in order to succeed in life, is you have to work hard. 🥺


Why not just win the lottery???

Or marry a rich man.

That would be fun. You can able to achieve your goals like travel, buy clothes, house and car easily.

I also easily believe on books like "the Secret", that says- the universe will rearrange itself for the things you desire. 🤦 <Facepalm>

I was so lazy, that although I pray, I thought I wasn't praying enough to get my desires. Desires like getting a lot of money for the purpose of enjoying stuff, that is what it meant to me back in my 20's.

But did you notice that although I pray, my priority is my desire already.

That is when I realised just now 2023, that was my downfall on that time of my life, my 20's.

Weather I became lazy or hard working, that doesn't matter anymore, because my mind is now idolising material things, that is where my sorrow starts.

I am still not perfect up to this day, but I am now wary of myself about material things.

I got a good guidance when I read the book My Legacy Journey by Dave Ramsey.

I really liked the book because, the life of Dave Ramsey's when he was young makes sense. And in some ways I am likr Dave.

Blocked Sim linked Paymaya

This is the step by step guide on how I successfully changed my Paymaya number.

Reason

First, to give a bit of background, my old sim card that is connected to Paymaya was somehow not working anymore.

The smart center in a mall that I visited says that you have to keep the sim card active by putting load to your number.

In which I am guilty, not doing so, because I mostly use my globe # predominantly.

So that is why, I panicked, because, I wanted to use my Paymaya,but I wasn't able to do so because I cannot receive OTP anymore from my sim card.

Hence, I went all of these steps.

Steps on How to Change your Paymaya Number

1. Call *888 ( I used my moms phone number since my sim card is totally disabled)

2. I told the customer representative what happened and she gave me the option of changing the number of my Paymaya

3. The customer representative gave me a reference number and instructed me to send the request to the email below.

4. Create a handwritten letter stating your reason for changing the number, include the reference number that the representative gave you and then print your name then sign th epaper. Take a picture then attach to your email. Send it to this email address:docs-support@maya.ph

Then wait for 3 working days then that is it.

You should be able to open your account ❤️

My Paymaya referral code was changed.

One thing I was sad about is because my Paymaya referral invite was changed.

But anyway, at least I am able to recover the account.

My Food Allergy and Mental Health

Never would have thought that I will have a food allergy.

Upon doing the keto, later on carnivore diet ish, along the path, I stumbled to know that milk spells horror to my health.

I mean, while I really like the carnivore ish diet, I began to taste back the food that I love, like milk, sometimes butter and cheese ( and you guessed it, sometimes chocolate and little snacks that I eat before- but do not worry, I really limit it).

And as I introduce back the food I love before ( for the purpose of tasting them because I miss them), I found out, that I go back crazy when I eat those food.

<I also know I am allergic to food with preservatives but for the sake of the title I will discuss it to other post 😊>.

Mental Issues

1 example is I cannot stop my stage freight. I cannot work at all, my work right now requires us to have meetings.

2. I started talking again alone but not as severe as before because I ony intake a small amount of dairy.


Not sure of you are familiar with steak and butter gal - she is kinda known figure to carnivore YouTube world, but as much as I like to follow her, I just cant. My stomach crunches and my brain cannot function properly 😔.

I love dairy even when I was in college, but I cannot go back to them sadly.

Mental Health Improve

As I continue my carnivore ish diet -beef and small quantity of rice, I feel like I can function better.

I can hold conversations better. 

I can speak on a meeting, I am still nervous, but not to the extent that my voice will shake and I will stutter.


In conclusion, as much as I like cream and milk, I have to completely avoid them for the long haul. But its ok, as I would gladly trade it in to be a functional human being.
