I am really hooked with Saving Pinay and I’ve been binge reading her articles especially the recent one about her 2017 Year End Review.
She is a true inspiration to me maybe because her financial journey started basically from scratch and in my current situation I am in that stage as well. I really love the idea of being financially free and I think all of us want it. That is actually the main reason behind Up Career on my blog.
I’ve got so much reason why I admire her so I will list everything down below;
1. She started really young around 20 or even less not so sure but in this point in my life, I am only thinking about finding a high paying job, come to think of it now, it is such a waste of time if only I am more focused on my younger days... (but it’s not too late I guess)
2. As I’ve said earlier she started from scratch she is not like a doctor who has 50,000 salary or a bank manager that is why I basically can relate to her more. I think a lot of Filipino’s who are in the low-income range need someone like her to basically give an idea to plan their finances and obtain financial freedom. (Thanks, Savings Pinay for teaching us low-income earners how to save!)
3. She has the same interest as me, I love that she has a creative side as well just like doing a blog and obsessed with beauty and makeup.
4. She’s single, I am basically single as well so I am really close to all her circumstances so I thought to myself if she can do it, there is definitely a way that I can do it too (that’s the spirit).
So…
Upon reading all her Year End reviews from 2015 to 2017 I thought I might incorporate something that will be a game changer with my journey to financial freedom.
Let’s start first with the wrong points I’ve been doing
Point #1: Savings Pinay already point this out that if you are getting an income from a single source you are doing it wrong!
And that hit me like a boulder actually. I tend to have a lot of excuses not to get a second source of income, I tried, believe me, but the business I started before didn’t work out just yet.
So, my journey continues and focuses my attention on savings! So far this 2017 I manage to bring up a bit amount of money and put it on San Jose Koop (read the article here) and I save as well with Pag-ibig MP2 (read the article here) (recap of both post here).
Point #2: The whole year was spent basically on savings and I already committed my second mistake! It is really exhausting to think that I cannot afford anything yet with my current savings and I know the reason why? I stop trying out business. This year I will sure want to try an itsy bitsy business even an ice candy selling this summer will be a great idea!!!
Wanted to reiterate that it is really important to save! But don’t forget as well that you should not stagnate on saving. Go out there and try to find anything that will give you another source of income.Since I belong to the low-income group this is the only way I could think of that can definitely change my game to 'financial freedom' (I hate that term maybe we can change it to 'can buy anything stage'?)! Remember, you will not get rich on your salary alone!
Get another source of income from.
Blogging
Selling stuff
If you are good at cooking or baking or making sweets
Or if you have talent on drawings
Talent on singing or like Savings Pinay which is event hosting
Another thing to point out is that I don’t really get an income yet with blogging but I’m sure I wanted to see it grow and it would be a good feeling if I get to experience my first pay-out out of blogging. In my post ‘ being persistent and consistent is the key. I am always inspired anyway so for sure I will continue on sharing informative articles related to Up Career, Beauty Reviews and Fooding Aside (hope I inspire you too!).
The latter paragraph will take us to Point #3…
Point #3: Wishful thinking! I’ve always been a wishful thinker may because of seeing a lot of fairy tale movies that we can have almost anything if we believe in it. But I am missing the whole point! We can achieve anything if we work on it! That should be the right mindset I believe! With that being said my hobby blogging is what I am really ‘hoping’ for to get an extra income, but for now it is not really performing well. So I have to consider blogging just a plane hobby for now without thinking of anything in return (don’t get me wrong I love blogging a lot). And I needed to improve on allotting time for writing because basically now my entire day is used solely for writing. If I started to have a business I needed to divide my time for the both of it so it is something I needed improvement.
You probably have noticed that I always include daydreaming, wishful thinking, hoping in a lot of my post. The reason behind it is because I am a huge daydreamer and I starting to hate/despise that part of myself that is why I wanted to change it by putting an action plan in everything that I set my mind to accomplish.
Moving on I will add to my Planner the following and the detailed action plan is written on my planner; setting a timeframe helps me to finish a task quickly (print your free Planner Calendar here)
Game Plan 2.0 (overview)
• Put up an ice candy business in summer (there is a good reason why am I delaying it until summer you will see why)
• Start showing off talents (promotion is really important by the way if you want to offer service and that will be soon…)
• Continue on writing post consistently (if I wanted my page to grow this is a necessity)
• I set savings to be a stable part of my goal this year and I also save something to spend on ‘promotion’, upgrading camera for blogging and the ‘ice candy business’.
Let me recap a bit..
For low-income earners do not stop on just saving!
Find ways to get another source of income! This is our key to reach can afford anything stage!
Invest on your passion but also prioritize side hustles. Side hustles are still valuable I believe for a short-term goal but passion will truly make you happy on a long-term.
Lastly, start now do not delay. Just go…
Your still here?
Go….
That’s it! Thanks for reading all the way!

Hi sis, good thing parami na ng parami ang mga financial blog dito sa PH. Nakakatuwa naman! Like you I am also on my late 20's and new to savings and investing. I rarely update my blog and sometimes naglolose ako ng focus sa mga financial goals ko however kapag nabiburn out ako sa work tapos nagda'daydream nagwiwish ako na sana magretire ako early. That's my drive to really push myself into saving. Hehe. I will visit your blog as often since nakakainspire rin sundan ang story mo. :)
