Random Things I do to Stop Looking Old and Dehydrated after Acne || Fountain of Youth

If you ever experienced acne for sure you can relate to me. Putting on products on to our face, trying to remove acne, dry up pimples and removing pimple scars takes a lot of youthful glow on to the skin.

Especially if you are in your late 20’s.

Initially, I thought the old appearance of my skin is just a simple problem of dehydration. But as I intake a lot of water and supplements to address dehydration, I have seen a minimal result to overall glow on to my skin, especially to my face, as if age has flew by easily after breakout.

So.

I will share to you all the random things I do to keep myself hydrated, to have a plumped skin, toned facial muscles and nice radiant glow (same skin as you have when you are in your early 20’s).

Exercise

This is a much-underrated advice to keep yourself young and glowing but it is true, you have to exercise to remove the dullness on to your overall aura (check out my previous post about Exercise Why Successful Women Exercise)

Why Exercise is important?

As you exercise, aside from losing weight, you are bringing back the elasticity to your skin which may have lost because of age and unhealthy lifestyle you had for the longest time.

Another form of exercise I do at home is Facial Massage/Exercise. I always follow Immy Maryam facial massage because I like to target my double chin.

I think that facial massage/exercise is important because it can help to circulate the blood flow on to your face which helps of course on to bring enough oxygen to your skin, hence will effect to a youthful glow.

However, I seldom do facial massage lately since I started exercising using Chloe Ting’s video, I just love her. But I think that facial massage is just as important with the normal home workout so doing it like once a week will definitely add up to improve your overall glow and stretch on to your facial muscles.

Next random things I do is…

Drink Just Enough Water and Virgin Coconut Oil (hydrate yourself)

I recently raved about this Virgin Coconut Oil and how it helps with the dryness of my skin, especially to my face. I am not that consistent with drinking Cold Pressed Virgin Coconut oil now because sometimes I forget about it and I also listen to my body if I need it or not. But its undeniably helpful with the overall hydration of my skin to the point that I rarely use lotion now because I simply don’t need it and I think that VCO helps with that a lot!

With water, I recently made a mistake about it. I think that sometimes I feel that I consume too much water, that means more trips to the bathroom and I also felt a little dizzy when forcing to chug down a 500ml bottle a couple of times a day.

I also heard about water intoxication, I’ve searched about it but I forgot the technicality of what it exactly do to your body, but basically, it says too much water will not do any more good for your body.

With that being said, drinking just enough water is really important.

Drinking enough water for me is chugging small amounts of water whenever I feel dryness on my throat. Now I always bring a water bottle with me especially if I travel far from home so I can always address my thirst whenever it happens. And I don’t usually over drink water as I used to. Just the prescribed water intake is fine.

Exfoliating

I shared a lot of times about how I exfoliate (it is part of my night time routine where I always do my acne care).

Removing dead skin cells will obviously lighten up your skin hence, will have a nice glow to it.

I am super old school with exfoliating I just have a simple Eskinol and cotton and wipe it gently onto my skin. That’s it! But I trust this method all the time because I am always seeing result whenever I do this.

Sunblock & Moisturizer

   Sunblock

I have a bad experience with sunblock before because apparently as I remember, I used it the wrong way (putting sunblock on to my face and topping it off with powder, that is it, and will be exposed for the whole day on the streets and let the pollution, dust, smoke and heat sink in onto my face because my work before requires a lot of travelling)

But now, as I use foundation when I go out for an important errand I think that using sun blocks becomes better, I mean I don’t have a powder of smoke when I got home (sunblocks usually are sticky so it easily attracts dust) and I feel that sunblock with foundation serves its purpose well in protecting my skin from the sun and also keeping my appearance pretty decent.

   Moisturize

I am recently using The Face Shop Aloe Vera. It has water like gel consistency and in my opinion, I think it is better than my Innisfree Orchid Eye Cream. I am using The Face Shop Aloe Vera more often now compare with the Innisfree brand. They have their own strengths with regards to your body chemistry but now I am liking the Aloe Vera more this summer time (let us see if it change on colder days between December to January, I usually like a cream base moisturizer when it gets a little bit cold click here for the review of Innisfree Orchid Eye Cream). (please check my previous blog post-Moisturizing Routine)

At night moisturizing my face is really tricky, if I overdo it, I wake up the next day to see my eyes red and looking soaked. So I really have to check if I need moisture this night or just skip it and save it for the next day. (for those who have wrinkles under eyes you probably know what I am talking about)

Here are my steps on how I apply makeup:

I pretty much follow how Kim Thai applies makeup so if you wanted a video about it you can easily check her out. Upon following this routine I look pretty decent and knowing that I applied sunblock makes me feel comfortable because of the protection it gives.

Step One: Moisturize - I let the Face Shop Aloe Vera sink into my face for a while until it is completely dry before going to the next step.

It is important not to skip moisturizer as it will give a smoother look.

Step Two: Sunblock – I am using a body sunblock and I do the same procedure with the moisturizer I let it dry and completely sink into my skin (please don’t judge I tried it once and I like it so I continue doing it).

Another thing I like about Sun Block is that it acts as a primer so my foundation sticks really well on to my skin.

Step Three: Foundation – now it’s the time to use foundation and if you l       like to be a little bit extra use concealer right after foundation.

If you do baking do it immediately after foundation. Have a light hand to avoid moving the foundation (if you get rough on doing it, it might cake up).

Since I don’t like baking I just lightly dust off my face with a powder.

Step Four: Do the rest of your make up (contour, eye makeup, brows, blush and lipstick)

Find protection From the Sun

Sun is good but everything must always be in moderation. So I always use umbrella and sunglasses with me. I can now see the value of sunglasses as it helps my eyes not to squint all the time because of too much light. It prevents me from getting wrinkles under eyes which in turn will add to your youthful glow.

Final Thoughts

I know these random things are hard to squeeze into a busy schedule but it must be done in able to bring back your youthful glow. Especially after having acne.

I remember having a dry plastic looking piece of skin under my eyes stretching out up to my cheeks (like a triangle shape starting under my eyes, nose and cheeks). It doesn’t look good. My face is oily but at the same time, it is dry. My skin has gone through a lot and I thought before that I can never get my skin back on its normal moisturized state.

Over time I tried quite a few things to address my problem.

And I learned that …

Drinking lots of water alone is not enough.

Putting on moisturizer alone is not enough.

Facial massage alone is not enough.

Drinking supplement like Virgin Coconut Oil alone is not enough.

I would say that exercise plays a big role in getting back the glow, elasticity and youthfulness of the skin.

So if ever you skip any of these, you better not skip exercise.

That’s it for now…

Hope this helps.

Ps: I took a random selfie of myself without foundation (I cropped it as well and pardon my black undereye). I am a bit oily because it’s been hours since I refresh my skin with soap and water. I know phone camera doesn’t show too much but I hope you can still see through it that my skin is a lot better than it used to. The picture of before was taken 2012 I believe, it doesn't show my severe acne because, to be honest, I avoided taking pictures that time but this picture shows small marks on my face. It is actually a lot better than what it used to be, but then again, I don't have a picture of it.

Thanks again for reading all the way!
